dante marramiero

Rosciano, Contrada Villa Oliveti. That’s all you need to understand that we are in a place long devoted to farming the land. The estate – in which the first manor house was built and the first vines planted – looks down directly onto the ancient drover’s road from which it took its name and along which transhumance herds and flocks passed until not so long ago.

Here, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and oak trees, at the beginning of the last century Dante and then Enrico Marramiero worked to transform grape growing into winemaking, elevating wines from a drink for family and friends to elegant products appreciated around the world.

Dante’s entrepreneurial dynamism formed the basis for various industrial activities, and his belief in family tradition and in the quality of his wine provided the drive for further production in the 1960s when, after a careful selection of existing grape strains, he expanded production by planting new vineyards.

Enamoured of a landscape that passes in rapid succession from the peaks of the Gran Sasso to the soft hills of Rosciano and all the way down to the sea, he was convinced that his winemaking enterprise could grow and be enriched.

That dream came true thanks to his children and a group of young people inspired by his idealistic spirit and irresistible willpower.

The process of growth that he initiated entered a further important stage in the early 1990s: reinterpreting the centuries-old peasant traditions of his land in a modern key, Dante founded the current Wine Cellar. Today his son Enrico leads the enterprise, marrying its original values and objectives with his own innovative vision, promoting the evolution of the company and expanding production to other estates: Sant’Andrea, Milano and Amarello, in Rosciano and Ofena.
